Night, by Elie Wiesel LA 10 Culminating Projects
You will choose one of the following projects to complete this last week of the quarter, and present late this week. Some of these are group projects (2-4 people) and some of them are individual. Grading will reflect how many people were doing the project.
You will be graded on: - Creativity & Originality 35%
- Completeness/ Thoroughness of Research 35%
- Mechanics and Quality 30%
This project will be worth 200 project points. Group Projects - Wiki Page of Research: MLA formatted (citations). Possible topics (and you might have ideas of your own): Buna, Sighet, Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashana, The Cabbala, Geography of Night, Wiesel’s Nobel Peace Prize, the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity, his other books, etc. Your Wiki page could include pictures, videos, etc., (as long as you credit the sources in the bibliography).
- Podcast/Video (informative video such as what we watched in class) of Research (with written script, using MLA citations). See suggestions above.
Individual Projects
- Wordia vocabulary submissions (3, with scripts for each), using vocabulary words from the novel (MLA citations needed for dictionary definitions)
- An artistic drawing/painting reflecting both “night” and “hope”, incorporating quotations from the novel (MLA citations needed for quotations—on a separate sheet of paper.)
- “Found” poem—you take words and phrases from the book and put together as one poem, in an artistic manner, with a unifying theme. (MLA citations for the places from which you took words and phrases.)
